Soon, he discovered a photo of ex-cop Jacob Weaver using a lighter saying "#1 Dad" that Bruce had given to his father the Christmas before he died. In young adulthood, Bruce started on his quest to find out whether Mayor Oswald Cobblepot had his parents killed, as Thomas Wayne was a rival to him in the mayoral election before his death. Sometime after graduating high school, Bruce lost contact with them. When Harvey appeared, he got into a fight with him after he mocked Bruce for his family's history with mental illness, particularly his grandmother's murder suicide of his grandfather. On another day, Bruce attempted to dissuade Jessica from breaking into the Arkham Manor, upholding the promise he'd made to him mother. Attacked by a swarm of bats that had taken residence, Bruce returned to the house and fled inside the armory, only to be frightened further a suit of samurai armor belonging to Alfred. As a teen, Bruce attempted to break into his parents' burial mausoleum one night after hearing strange noises within it. At his request, Alfred trained him in hand-to-hand combat and martial arts. In the aftermath, he was introduced to his father's old friend and his now-legal guardian Alfred Pennyworth.Īfter his parents' murder, Bruce decided to find the man who had murdered them and discover why they'd done so. Traumatized by the event, he remained uncooperative during police investigation.
Bruce could do nothing but watch as the mugger shot his parents after attempting to steal his mother's necklace. Running ahead of his parents, he was captured and held hostage by an unnamed mugger. In the run-up to the mayoral elections, his father decided to take Bruce to see a film despite death threats being made to them. He and his parents would regularly visit the Monarch Theatre for movie nights. In his childhood, Bruce also befriended Jessica Dent, though quickly developed an antagonistic relationship with her brother Harvey.
At an unknown time, he made a promise to his mother not to enter her childhood home, due to "bad things" having taken place there.
The heir of both the Wayne and Arkham families, Bruce grew up in his maternal family's estate, Wayne Manor.
